ABOUT US
Wendle Motors is the Inland Northwest's leading New and Used Automobile Dealer in sales, service and customer satisfaction. Wendle is family owned and operated and has been in business for over 64 years.
In 1943 Stoddard-Wendle Ford was founded by Wayne Stoddard and Chud Wendle. The dealership was originally located at Third and Jefferson in downtown Spokane. In 1966, Chud and Dick Wendle relocated the Ford dealership to its present location in North Spokane at Division and Wellesley. City business and government leaders called this move "crazy" because this area had very few businesses and was on the outskirts of town. At the corner of Division and Wellesley there existed only a small pumping station, a grocery store and a laundry mat.
During the 1970s Wendle successfully grew through selling and servicing Fords. Also during the 70s, Wendle was able to expand by purchasing the other businesses on the northwest corner of Division and Wellesley. Wendle quickly grew into a leading Ford dealer in the Pacific Northwest while always focusing on employee and customer satisfaction. This is evident by Ford Motor Company presenting Wendle the North American Service Excellence Award every year since 1974. During these years Wendle has also been a major supporter of the community as exhibited by its support of EXPO '74, Chamber of Commerce, School District 81 and many other organizations.
In the early '80s Wendle added Datsun (Nissan) and Isuzu to its lineup. Wendle eventually became the largest megastore under one roof (100,000 square feet). In the late '80s and early '90s Wendle grew to be the largest Ford dealership in the state of Washington, Top 100 Ford dealers in the country, Top 25 used dealers in the country and one of the largest Nissan dealers in the Northwest. This growing success was due to Wendle's commitment to its employees and community.
Also in the early '90s, Wendle's third generation entered the picture by joining the successful family business. After Dick Wendle's daughter and son (Kristin and Chud) joined the business, Wendle Motors acquired Spokane's premier commercial property (14 acres at the North Division "Y"). This property was originally one of Spokane's drive-in movie theaters. In 1993, Wendle Motors opened Spokane's first truck center operation on this property. In 1995, Wendle opened a 60,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art automobile facility which became home to the Inland Northwest's No. 1 Nissan and Isuzu dealership. In 1996, Wendle added Infiniti to its lineup at the "Y" and Suzuki to its lineup at Northtown.
Based on Chud Wendle Sr.'s vision, philosophy, commitment to the employee and customer, and business ethics, Wendle has grown into a successful family business that employs over 200 employees and retails over 5,000 vehicles. With the largest inventories in both vehicles (new and used) and parts in the Inland Northwest, you need to come visit WENDLE for your automotive transportation needs.
